Scholarships
AAF - ECI has offered college scholarships for more than 20 years to students majoring or minoring in advertising, marketing or a related area. Applications are due March 2, 2012. The Education Committee is responsible for developing and implementing the scholarship policies, procedures, application process, and selection of the recipients.
AAF -ECI members support funding of the scholarships through the annual media and give auction held each December. Three $1,000 scholarships are given to 1) The Anne Condran Advertising Scholarship; 2) The AAF – ECI General Scholarship; and 3) Minority Scholarship.

2011-2012 Recipients

Luke E. Chase
Luke is this year’s AAF Anne Condran Scholarship recipient. Luke is an outstanding AAF student who has been Interactive Director and Production Director for the Ball State AAF’s national campaign effort this year. He has been a part of three NSAC presentation teams while at Ball State. He has received several Journalism Department honors and is the proud holder of one gold and three silver Student ADDYs. He hopes to join an advertising firm upon graduation and eventually have his own agency.
Sarah Mitchem
Sarah is this year’s AAF Scholarship recipient. Sarah will be a senior this fall at Ball State, where she is majoring in advertising and with a minor in special education. She is active in the AAF student Chapter, is on the Ball State Women’s Lacrosse Team and also participants on a dance team. She was part of the creative team for this year’s JC Penney’s campaign produced by the AAF Chapter. Her interests in special education focus on American Sign Language, which she wants to incorporate into her advertising career to enable more diverse opportunities for both advertising clients and their audience. She hopes to have her own company in the future.
Dwayne Henderson
Dwayne is recipient of the AAF Minority Scholarship. He will be a senior this fall at Ball State, where he is studying advertising and marketing and is an active member of the AAF Chapter. He is a member of Phi Gamma Delta, works for Indiana Public Radio and is a volunteer for Muncie Boys and Girls Club. He is also public relations and advertising chairman for Be Hope to Her, an organization he helped to start that supports bringing to light and helping to improve water quality issues for Kenyan villages. Females of Kenya often put aside their own studies because they have to travel long distances to obtain water for their families. Dwayne is also the son of AAF member Will Henderson.
