Marketing and Sales Assistant HORIZON CONVENTION CENTER

Must qualify for Ball State Federal Work Study program

Job Description

The Horizon Convention Center seeks a dynamic individual to aid in the marketing and sales team of this prominent hospitality entity. The Marketing and Sales Assistant will assist the Director of Sales and Marketing and the Sales and Marketing Manager with various projects and tasks including but not limited to:

Administrative responsibilities may include:

  • Prepare purchase orders and expense reports for Director and Manager of Sales and Marketing
  • Help with the front desk for receptionist breaks and vacation: answering phones, taking care of clients and walk ins
  • Assemble sales kits and promotional items for tradeshows and site visits
  • Follow up with vendors, clients and staff when needed for Director and Manager of Sales and Marketing
  • Research prospective clients and/or events for Director and Manager of Sales and Marketing
  • Other administrative duties as they arise

Event responsibilities may include:

  • Create materials for events such as drink tickets, menus and programs
  • Assist with the set up of events
  • Possible on-site event hours on weekends if desired

Required Qualifications

  • Applicant must be attending an accredited college or university
  • Applicant must be detail orientated with superior organizational skills
  • Applicant must have knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Applicant must be a self starter and able to work independently
  • Applicant must be approved for federal work study program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research skills
  • Inter-personal skills
  • Priority consideration will be given to those with marketing and/or public relations major/minor.
